I grew up in inner city Buffalo, NY and attended SUNY University at Buffalo where I took a B.A. in English and Education in 2000 and an M.A. in English in 2002. I lived and taught in Eugene, OR from 2002-2005 while my wife, Anne, attended graduate school at the University of Oregon. In 2005 we moved to Greensboro, NC and I’ve been teaching at Grimsley ever since. Our oldest daughter, Lizzie, was born in 2007 and our second daughter, Amalie, in 2010. In 2014 I won Grimsley’s Teacher of the Year and in 2018 the Larry Saunders Excellence in Teaching Award.
